How to Hand Wash Your Lingerie

How to Hand Wash Your Lingerie

While every woman is unique, and breast weight can vary even within the same cup size, here are some general weight estimates by cup size. Keep in mind that these figures are approximate and assume a band size of 34, which is a common middle-ground size.

Step 1 – Set Up Your Wash Basin

Fill a clean basin or large bowl with cool or lukewarm water. Hot water breaks down elastic and distorts lace. Add a small amount of gentle, lingerie‑safe detergent and let it fully dissolve before adding your bras. Avoid regular laundry soap, bleach, or fabric softener, which weaken delicate fibers over time.

Step 2 – Wash Without Scrubbing

Place one to three pieces into the water and gently press them under. Swish them around softly, paying extra attention to underarm areas where deodorant builds up. Do not scrub, twist, or wring the fabric. Let everything soak for five to ten minutes so the detergent can lift dirt and sweat without aggressive handling.

Step 3 – Rinse, Dry, and Store Correctly

Drain the soapy water and refill the basin with clean, cool water. Repeat until no suds remain. To remove excess water, lay a clean towel flat, place the wet lingerie on one half, fold the other half over, and press down firmly. Never wring or twist. Reshape your bras by hand, then lay them flat on a drying rack. Hanging them by the straps will stretch out the elastic. Once dry, store lace bras unclasped and lying flat in a drawer.

How Often Should You Wash?

Wash your bras every two wears, or sooner if you sweat heavily. Rotating between a few bras gives the elastic time to recover between wears, which also cuts down on how often you need to hand wash.

Small Effort, Big Difference

A few minutes of gentle care every couple of weeks protects the lace, the fit, and the beauty of your lingerie. Treat your pieces well, and they will keep you feeling amazing for years to come.
