Laundry day usually means tossing everything into the washer and dryer without much thought. But when it comes to bras, that shortcut can cost you. The truth is, bras and dryers don’t really get along—and here’s why.
Heat Ruins the Stretch
Your bra’s secret weapon is elastic. That band and those straps are what keep you supported. But high heat from the dryer weakens elastic fast, leaving your bra stretched out and saggy long before its time.
Shape Doesn’t Bounce Back
Got padding or molded cups? The dryer is their worst enemy. The tumbling can warp the shape, and once it’s lumpy or dented, it’s nearly impossible to fix.
Hardware Takes a Hit
Even if your bra is wire-free , clasps and hooks can get twisted or snagged in the dryer. For underwire bras, it’s even riskier—wires can bend, snap, or poke right through the fabric.
The Better Way to Dry
Instead of rushing, give your bras a gentler treatment. After washing, press out the extra water with a towel (don’t wring them out), then lay them flat on a clean surface or over a drying rack. It takes a little longer, but it’s worth it for keeping your bras comfy and supportive.
